As we make our way through another week of lockdown, many of us are starting to feel the pressure of the restrictions placed on us in these uncertain times. It’s been amazing to see the majority of the country come together and support each other as well as everyone doing their best to #stayathome and protect the NHS.
Swimming remains one of the most popular activities across the country, in fact 4.7 million people swim regularly every month. Swimming is an incredible form of exercise with a long list of health benefits, both mental and physical. Just by swimming regularly, we can contribute to saving the NHS millions of pounds every year as the most recent studies have shown that swimming twice a week can help reduce long-term health conditions such as; diabetes, heart disease, depression and even dementia.
Origin has won multiple awards over the years and 2020 has proved to be no different! Origin kicked off the year winning an amazing two gold awards at the UK Pool & Spa Awards, and the good news doesn’t end there. After joining SPATA (Swimming Pool and Allied Trades Association) in 1985, Origin were elated to come away from this years ceremony with another two awards.
The months of January and February can be described as dreary and a mentally tough time of year, it takes a few long weeks to bounce back from the high of Christmas. With that in mind as we move through the rest of the year, it becomes important to get back into the habit of making time for yourself, especially when life gets busy with work, school runs and errands as we tend to shift our priorities and exercise falls by the wayside.
Warm water has been used as an effective natural treatment for pain and illness for thousands of years. However, many of us are still unfamiliar with the healing effects of a hydrotherapy pool and the hugely positive impact it has on our mental and physical wellbeing.
January, named after Janus, the Roman god of all beginnings or in other words… the month of resolution and change. At our core we are creatures of habit, in fact over half of our behaviour is habitual which may explain why a lot of us find it impossible to keep our new year’s resolutions!
The difference between Origin and other swimming pool companies is that we manage the whole process for you, eliminating the need for you to employ and manage separate companies/professionals and deal with the headache of liaising between them and yes… that includes architects!
Here at Origin we love all things swimming and why wouldn’t we? It’s an amazing activity that does great things for our physical and mental health but more than that… it’s fun! We help other people fall in love with swimming every day, for some it’s instant and for others it’s a journey but one thing’s for sure, when you own an Origin pool it’s impossible not to love swimming.
The length of time it takes to complete a swimming pool installation really does vary from project to project as it’s completely dependant on the size of your pool, choice of design and internal and external finishes. To get a good idea of the project length, it’s best to book a free on-site consultation with one of Origin’s experienced advisers so they can walk you through the process and give you their best estimate.
When looking for inspiration for this months article, Origin stumbled across this staggering statistic: 25% of British adults struggle to swim. Upon further thought this statistic isn’t that shocking, many people don’t have access to a swimming pool, public or private and unless you were lucky enough to have swimming lessons at school, when else would you learn?
September, you either love it or you hate it, the kids are back or just starting school, traffic returns to normal, the tan starts to fade and just like that… summer is over. The next few months host the lead up to the most indulgent time of the year and as we prepare ourselves for the chaos ahead, now is as good a time as any to remind you of the health advantages you can get out of your Origin swimming pool.
Just how much does an indoor swimming pool cost? This is often one of the first questions we are asked when speaking to our clients and the truth is, it depends entirely on the size and style of your project, and whether you choose from our range of popular models or are considering a bespoke design.
